See what's hurting your score. No cost, no obligation.
A charge-off means a creditor wrote your account off as a loss — but it does not mean the debt disappeared or that the entry is accurate. Charge-offs frequently report the wrong balance, continue to report a balance after being sold to a collector (double-reporting the same debt), or show up past the seven-year limit. Pioneer Credit Solution disputes and negotiates charge-offs for Southern California and Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, and Ventura counties residents to get them removed or corrected.

Check My Score NowRemove Charge-Offs FAQs
- Can a charge-off be removed from my credit report in Southern California?
- Yes. Charge-offs that are inaccurate, unverifiable, duplicated by a collector, or past seven years must be removed. Valid charge-offs can frequently be deleted through a negotiated settlement.
- Is a charge-off the same as a collection?
- No. A charge-off is the original creditor writing off the account. A collection is a third party trying to collect it. Both can appear for the same debt, and if the charge-off still shows a balance after being sold, that is an error we dispute.
- Should I pay a charge-off?
- Paying without a deletion agreement changes it to 'paid charge-off,' which still hurts your score. We negotiate deletion first, then payment. Call 1-888-271-2293 before you pay.
- How long does a charge-off stay on my credit?
- Seven years from the date of first delinquency. Creditors sometimes report a newer date, which illegally extends the damage — we catch and dispute that.
- Can I get a mortgage with a charge-off?
- Most lenders require charge-offs to be paid or removed. Removing them is the faster route, and it also raises the score you qualify with.
